Some of the most comfortable and trendy shoes seen on feet this season are espadrilles. Whether you’re out at the beach or in town, they’re a must have summer shoes. The history of them goes back to 14th century when they were made in the Pyrennees Mountains and the oldest, most primitive form of espadrilles go as far back as 4000 years ago.
Espadrilles are traditionally made with cotton canvas uppers with jute rope or braid soles which are favoured because of its eco-friendliness compared to synthetic substances. They are comfortable, light, and perfect for wearing indoors and out as casual but chic footwear.
This season they are back and better than ever! For this spring and summer designers gave them a new lease of life. Coming in all possible colours, prints and patterns, thin or thick soled and also made of any fabric not just canvas – leather, lace, or both. Chanel, Valentino,Tory Burch and many other designers have jumped in on this trend. My pick was of course Chanel ones which recently have been very popular across the bloggers.I have changed my mind when I saw a summer preview of Rene Caovilla ones on Net-a-Porter. Available only on pre –order I was slightly disappointed I couldn’t just buy them. So when I saw them in Takashimaya department store in Singaporemy heart nearly stopped! They looked even better in real life and I couldn’t leave the shop without them. What do you think? A wise decision or shall I look for Chanel ones?
