During my holiday in Malta I visited one of the most amazing places which is definitely worth a mention for anyone who loves Baroque style.
Palazzo Parisio, built in the 18th century I the heart of Naxxar by the Portuguese grandmaster Manoel de Vilhena, seems to possess something of the quality of fairy tale. Compared to a miniature Versailles for its opulence, the palace was converted to magnificence by the Marquis Giuseppe Scicluna, who enriched the palace with artistic designs, refined architecture and charming gardens.
The design of Palazzo Parisio is a fusion between Maltese and Italian culture. From the family carriage at the entrance to the Italian-style gardens and from the dazzling glamour of the mirrored ballroom to the Pompeiian dining room. Palazzo Parisio is truly a place that has to be explored. Beautiful baroque gardens surrounded by wall keep it private, peaceful and tranquil which makes it the perfect location for summer weddings.
Open to the public all year round, Palazzo Parisio is renowed for its cuisine. The palace’s Luna Collection features two of Malta’s top restaurants and a delightful lounge bar. Caffe Luna, the Luna Lounge and Luna di Sera each offer delicious cuisine, top service and chic atmosphere. We have stopped for an afternoon tea at Caffe Luna which was undoubtedly the most stylish restaurant and tea room on the island.
Palazzo Parisio’s gardens are one of the finest in Malta and the only privately-owned gardens open to the public so make sure you visit them if you are on the island.
